The team behind Cosmic Princess Kaguya has made a special memorial book available for free online following widespread criticism of its decision to participate in Comic Market 108.
Animation producer Kazuma Momohara relayed the decision on August 14, just hours before Comiket 108 was scheduled to begin over the weekend. He explained that the decision to make the memorial book was taken rather casually within the team and apologized to any fans who had already made plans to attend the event, as well as the organizers for any inconvenience caused. The project was announced back in July as an unofficial illustration collection featuring 93 staff members from the original movie.

Given the unofficial nature of the publication, fans likely had no choice but to make their way to Tokyo Big Sight or risk missing out entirely. This seemed like a recipe for disaster when paired with the continuing popularity of the movie as well as recent high profile scalping scandals, but the team's decision to distribute the book via Dropbox after the event is one of the most consumer friendly moves made this year.
Especially considering that the line on the day was long enough to circle all the way around the venue!
