Miki Matsubara is getting a special reissue for her rare 1981 compilation album, Miki Matsubara Selects: My Best 16. The 16-track collection was originally released exclusively on cassette, featuring songs handpicked by Matsubara herself. It arrives on November 25, 2026, honoring both her November 5th debut anniversary and her birthday later in the month on the 28th.
Matsubara made history in July 2026 when her signature single “Mayonaka no Door~stay with me” passed 500 million streams on Spotify, becoming the first Japanese song from the 20th century to cross that milestone. While "Mayonaka no Door~stay with me" will be the stand-out for many fans, this compilation also highlights tracks that showcase the full range of her musical style.
Revisiting this special compilation provides both new streaming listeners and longtime collectors a chance to experience Matsubara's self-curated playlist more than 40 years after its original release and hear the tracks she connected to at the time. This new release will be available on clear 2LP vinyl, UHQCD, cassette, and streaming. The physical packaging incorporates rare artwork from the original 1981 cassette launch alongside a signed cover image.
You can check out the full tracklist as well as find links to places to purchase, including the Pony Canyon World Shop for international buyers, on the album's special website.
