Shueisha will produce a new version of Weekly Shonen Jump issue 33 following widespread stock shortages.
In a statement issued on July 17, the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department apologized to customers who were unable to buy the magazine at bookstores and convenience stores across the country. As compensation, a new edition of issue 33 will be sold via the Jump Character Store without the promo card for the ONE PIECE Card Game that attracted so much attention from resellers.
Furthermore, the upcoming October issue of V Jump will no longer carry similar promo cards as previously advertised. That being said, the magazine will still operate its mail-in distribution service for the cards, where fans must use a serial code printed in the magazine and pay extra to get their hands on the products.

If anything, this system is something that Weekly Shonen Jump should also consider for future promo card releases. Locking promo cards behind a paywall not only puts up barriers for resellers, but also means that V Jump can control the flow of stock much better. A similar model used for Yu-Gi-Oh! products earlier this year has no upper limit on the amount of packs distributed, just the timeframe needed for delivery.
