hololive talents will appear in a new mahjong mobile game releasing this year, inventively titled hololive Mahjong and developed by Aiming.
The title was revealed earlier today in a trailer narrated by first generation talent Shirakami Fubuki. While the gameplay is more or less what you'd expect, there are definitely some hololive-themed twists on display, including exclusive illustrations and voice lines from participating talents. Only Japanese language talents are involved this time, presumably because there is no English release planned.
That being said, there was one major absence. Inugami Korone from hololive GAMERS was suspiciously missing from the line-up, even though the rest of her generation are confirmed to be in the game. A follow-up statement posted to the title's official X account explained that any absences were due to "mutual agreements between talents and management," but this doesn't give much of a concrete reason as to why Korone isn't included.
Moreover, the exclusion of talents formerly belonging to hololive English and Indonesian doesn't due much to dissuade anxieties following the recent announcement that these sub-branches would no longer exist. Just how hololive Mahjong functions alongside hololive Dreams, which already has a mahjong-like mode, also remains to be seen.
