Today marks the 20th anniversary of the release of MOTHER 3 and even though the game still isn't available outside of Japan, fans can still show their appreciation thanks to a collection of new items courtesy of the HOBONICHI MOTHER PROJECT to celebrate the occasion.
The obvious hit of the new items that hit the store today is this adorable plush Ultimate Chimera, which would go perfectly with a set of the MOTHER 3 “Me and Friends” plush released previously. Priced at ¥4,400, it's a nice chonky little guy and quite detailed as well! Joining the plush is also a tote bag featuring many of the characters from the game, as well as MOTHER 3 cast of characters poster.

In addition to the new merch dropped today, a new collaboration with Converse has been announced. A pair of Converse All-Star lows in yellow featuring Claus, Lucas, and Boney go up for order on May 25th. They're a lot more understated in design than the previous Mr. Saturn All-Stars that were released, but the tasteful nature should make them a lot more versatile in your everyday wardrobe.

To host all of this information and the sales links for the new items a special MOTHER 3 20th Anniversary page has popped up on the Hobonichi website. In addition to the new goods, series creator Shigesato Itoi even gave a little comment to mark the occasion:
“Even now, in 2026, MOTHER 3 is still the newest game. Not just in the meaning that it's the most recently released "latest" game, but also that it feels just as fresh as the day it was born.
Even 20 years later, it's still an all-new game. At least, that's what I believe.
It's both strange and fascinating, but also a little sad. Right!

Linked alongside the comment is also an interview Itoi gave when it was originally released back in 2006. You can find all of this on the Happy 20th Anniversary! MOTHER 3 special site.
