Pioneering Japanese hip-hop group RHYMESTER and jazz collective SOIL & "PIMP" SESSIONS have announced the release of a collaborative mini-album titled Jazzy Conversations Vol. 1 on December 23, 2026. The announcement was accompanied by schedule details for joint performances in Tokyo and Osaka scheduled for spring 2027.
The seven-track project seamlessly combines hip-hop vocals with live jazz instrumentation to build off of a legendary one-night jam session between the two groups. Its tracklist includes two new compositions: the Latin-influenced lead single “No Pasa Nada” and the lower-tempo “Time To Wake Up.” In addition, the release also features newly recorded jazz arrangements of established RHYMESTER singles “B-BOYism” and “Flashback, Natsu,” alongside the complete version of “Hatsukoi no Akuma -Dance With The Devil-,” which was originally produced for a 2022 NTV television series.
The relationship between both acts originated in 2011 during an unscripted late-night session following the FM802 MEET THE WORLD BEAT festival in Osaka. They subsequently co-headlined a concert in 2012 and recorded their first joint track, “Jazzy Conversation,” for SOIL & "PIMP" SESSIONS' 2013 album CIRCLES. Jazzy Conversations Vol. 1 represents their first dedicated joint album release.
Physical copies will be available exclusively as a limited-edition 7-inch gatefold CD package featuring custom artwork, stickers, and presale ticket codes for their upcoming spring 2027 shows at Tokyo Kinema Club and Osaka Central Public Hall.
