LINE Digital Frontier, a subsidiary of Webtoon Entertainment, has announced a 10 billion yen investment plan into Japan-produced content over the next three years.
Speaking at a press conference on October 22, President and CEO Kim Yonsu noted that Japan is still the world's biggest manga market and remains the most important sector for the company. Through the development of such tools as Global Drop and Webtoon Canvas, he sees the role of LINE Digital Frontier as "delivering a variety of works by many creators to an international audience."

Global Drop launched last month as a project to offer simultaneous publication in nine supported languages using AI. Webtoon Canvas, on the other hand, has been in operation for many years as a way for amateur artists to share their work on the platform. It has produced such English-language hits as Lore Olympus, but nothing in Japanese as of yet.
