The 46th feature film in the Doraemon franchise is officially on the way. Doraemon: Nobita's Steam Time Train hits Japanese theaters on March 5, 2027, swapping out usual sci-fi hubs for a journey to Victorian-era England.
This outing features an original story written by Makoto Ueda, the playwright behind popular time-bending comedies like Summer Time Machine Blues. Directing the feature is Rucho Moriyama, a veteran episode director from the main TV series stepping up for his first full-length movie in the series.
The plot kicks off with Nobita and the crew jumping out of modern Japan and landing right in 19th-century London, complete with period costumes and a glowing, steam-powered time train. Things do not go entirely smoothly, as the teaser hints at timeline disruptions that throw the group's journey off course.
Following the box office run of the Underwater Castle remake earlier this year, this project shifts back to fresh narrative ground. Expect plenty of classic time-travel antics and gadget mishaps when it opens early next year.
