Shueisha has called on nineteen famous manga artists to choose the most memorable chapters of their own series as part of the publisher's 100th anniversary project, including JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Kingdom.
2026 marks 100 years since Shueisha was first founded as a sister company to Shogakukan in 1926 to publish entertainment materials. To celebrate, several projects are currently underway: a new Jump Shop in the Jimbocho neighborhood of Tokyo, a new support portal to help new creators with everything from filing taxes to what software to use, as well as a commemorative website by the name of Shueisha Manga Expo that collects various recommendations from famous manga artists and other figures from across the pop culture space.
It's on this website that such legends as Hirohiko Araki (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) and Tetsuo Hara (Kingdom) have been asked to give the most memorable chapters for each of their series. This also comes with a small comment that reveals several interesting facts about the reality behind the scenes.

For Araki, chapter three of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders is what he remembers best. "Just a few weeks before Part 2 ended, my editor told me that Hamon was getting a bit old," he admits. "I didn't know what to do, but I couldn't take any time off, so I scrambled to come up with the idea of Stands in about two weeks."
Hara, meanwhile, chose chapter 33 of Kingdom as this marked the lowest point of the serialization. While the first chapter was received very well, it continued to decline in reader surveys until this installment was finally published in the very back of Young Jump. "I kind of naively thought that everything would work out since I thought my work was interesting, but that really made me feel the fear of getting cancelled," he remarked.
Other artists spotlighted for the project include Yudetamago (Kinnikuman), Karuho Shiina (Kimi ni Todoke), and Osamu Akimoto (Kochikame). Check out the Shueisha Manga Expo website for more details.
