The anime adaptation of Sgt. Frog, created by Mine Yoshiaki, has teamed up with Mobile Suit Gundam for the very first time. What's more, a new trailer has revealed that several mobile suits will actually appear in the upcoming Sgt. Frog movie.
While the zany antics of Sgt. Frog might seem a world away from the mecha action of Gundam at first glance, both series were actually produced by Sunrise. In addition, Mine Yoshiaki's series has a history of parodying the iconic mecha franchise, including a recent parody of Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe. That being said, the two series have never collaborated in an official capacity until now.
In terms of what this collaboration actually entails, Sgt. Frog creator Mine Yoshiaki and original Gundam character designer Yoshikazu Yasuhiko have first collaborated on a line-up of special illustrations that see characters from both series interacting together. This includes a very heartwarming depiction of Amuro and Char walking arm in arm with the titular Sergeant, drawn by Yasuhiko.

Of course, there are also new plastic model kits. Not only is the Keroro Robot Mk-II is getting a new 'Titans Color' scheme, the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II now has a Sgt. Frog-themed lick of paint. The former goes on sale July 26, while the latter will be available to order via the Premium Bandai Hobby Online Shop.
Finally, the latest trailer for the upcoming Sgt. Frog movie has revealed that several mobile suits from Gundam will actually make an appearance in the story. The footage shows a MS-05 Zaku II Char Custom and a RX-78-2 Gundam in action.
