The opening cinematic for Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link has supposedly leaked online, showing what could have been for the cancelled mobile game.
Originally announced in 2022, the project was supposed to serve as the bridge between Kingdom Hearts III and the upcoming Kingdom Hearts IV before meeting an untimely end in 2025. Since then, rumors of an unfinished build have been swirling around fan communities, but the opening cinematic is what has finally been revealed from the ruins of the game.
What immediately jumps out from the footage above is the bizarre, hyper-realistic art style also present in the trailers for Kingdom Hearts IV. Lots of ink has been spilt about the image of astronaut-like figures descending into a void before fighting a giant monster with Keyblades, but stranger clashes in style have existed in the series before. Brain is also present at the very end, making another appearance after Kingdom Hearts Union χ.
Of course, none of this footage is confirmed to be real just yet. Plenty of users have cried AI, but none of the more obvious indicators are present. That being said, the fact that none of the videos have been taken down by neither Square Enix nor Disney just yet is perhaps the strongest proof that they are some kind of elaborate hoax.
