International sales are now underway for the Ghost in the Shell TechnoByobu collaboration products, bringing cyberpunk together with craftmanship.
Produced by U/M/A/A Inc., TechnoByobu is a next-generation art piece that combines pop culture with byobu (folding screens) using traditional Japanese foil craft techniques with over 500 years of artisanal history. Previous collaborations include TB-01: Electronic Fan Girl, featuring the motif of YMO (Yellow Magic Orchestra).

While the Ghost in the Shell collaboration products were initially sold at an exhibition in Tokyo, they are now available to purchase worldwide through the WorldShopping Biz proxy service. Among the line-up is TB-02-KP: The Ghost in the Shell Konpaku, depicting series protagonist Motoko Kusanagi aboard the Fuchikoma, as well as the HAC module pieces that feature various iconic visuals from across the franchise.
Given that the cheapest product starts at 120,000 yen (around 750 USD), this certainly isn't your regular anime merch drop, but it just goes to show the pedigree of Masamune Shirow's original series. Just in time for the new anime, too.
