Almost 40 years since the original release of Patlabor's anime, Patlabor EZY is coming to Japanese theaters, starting with "File 1" of a three-file trilogy on May 15, 2026. A teaser video was released via Patlabor's official X account, alongside dates for "File 2" on August 14, and "File 3" in March 2027. Originally announced in 2017, nine years later, we're finally nearing the fruits of the EZY films.

Set to be animated by J.C.STAFF and directed by Yutaka Izubuchi, a veteran of the franchise who has been involved since its inception and a key member of Headgear, this initial preview of the film looks extremely promising.

Alongside the announcement for the trilogy of films, BANDAI SPIRITS has begun teasing an upcoming RG plastic model kit for the Patlabor EZY films. While details on the kit are still light, we're expecting to see more information ahead of the first film's release.
