It looks like Someone Hertz has a somewhat unexpected admirer: Gege Akutami. The author of Jujutsu Kaisen and its sequel Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo not only drew the wisecracking Kurage Mizuo in their typical dark art style, but also provided a glowing recommendation to celebrate the release of the series' third collected volume. Is another sorcerer about to throw their hat in the ring for the Culling Game?
Weekly Shonen Jump often uses endorsements from famous authors as a way to promote new series. Someone Hertz actually already received one from Teasing Master Takagi-san creator Souichiro Yamamoto for its second volume, but Gege Akutami is arguably much more well known. The sheer difference in tone between the dark, violent Jujutsu Kaisen and the happy-go-lucky Someone Hertz also makes this quite amazing.

Akutami's illustration of Kurage, pictured above, takes her radio name of "Eel Potato" and imagines as some sort of jujutsu technique involving the literal objects. Half lit in shadow, the image goes almost entirely against the bubbly atmosphere found in Ei Yamano's series, but it should serve to capture the attention of anyone browsing through the latest releases. Let's just hope that they don't also think Mimei can summon a giant owl or something.
Further to the illustration, Akutami also describes Someone Hertz as "real radio passion" in a piece of marketing copy that will almost certainly be used to promote the series from here on out. In particular, both the illustration and the copy are used prominently for the third volume's wraparound obi that will be visible in bookstores across the country. That obi, by the way, confirmed this week that the series has now surpassed over 300,000 copies in circulation.
