The circulation for Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has fallen below one million for the first time since records began.
Every three months, the Japan Magazine Publishers Association issues a breakdown of circulation numbers for physical publications with the cooperation of most major publishers. According to the latest report, Shueisha only printed 985,000 copies of the famous magazine between April and June 2026. In December 1994, Jump achieved the biggest circulation of any manga magazine in history with its combined 1995 issue no. 3 and 4.

As Jacob explained in an article from earlier this year, the circulation of most major magazines has been falling consistently since the turn of the millennium. Digital sales, meanwhile, have exploded since the advent of the smartphone, even outpacing some of the figures seen during the height of the physical era. That doesn't necessarily mean that digital distribution doesn't have its fair share of problems, but it should serve to dissuade any serious conversation about Jump's continued popularity.
Rival magazines such as Weekly Shonen Magazine and Weekly Shonen Sunday also reported similarly low numbers at 281,000 and 120,000 respectively. There is no data for Weekly Shonen Champion.
