Worlds are colliding on February 14, 2025 at the Shochiku sponsored ZIPANGU the party!! where club sounds and traditional Japanese music and culture meet. Being held at ZEROTOKYO, the venue attached to Shinjuku's Kabukicho Tower complex, the event is bringing a who's who of Japan's best producers and DJs alongside an array of entertainment rooted in Japan's cultural history.
This is seriously such a crazy concept as a whole, but in all of the best ways possible. In addition to the DJ sets, the ZIPANGU Special Stage at the event will be hosting traditional Kagura dancers, Japanese drummers, and and much more. The inclusion of Sachiko Kobayashi is especially worthy of additional note because she's literally a living legend.
Active in the Japanese music industry since the 1960's, Kobayashi has released an absolutely mind boggling amount of music and done so while remaining relevant even as times and tastes change. She holds the title of "Final Boss" as reference to the massive and elaborate costumes she's worn during many of her 34 appearances in NHK's Kouhaku Uta-gassen year-end music events.
We could go on and on about Kobayashi but we'll save that for another article. If her appearance and the rest of the performances aren't enough to entice you, the DJ talent on deck is also beyond top notch. Just look at the announced lineup:
We've been holding off on covering live music events because we're still working on a better function to organize them for readers (since so many are happening), but jaws dropped when this was announced and we just had to get the word out. The party starts at 11:00pm on February 14, 2025 with door tickets at ¥4500, and a few other options for pre-sale via ZAIKO or e-plus.
