Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter is returning to the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump next week, just as Kagurabachi by Takeru Hokazono enters an unprecedented hiatus.
The signs that Hunter x Hunter would be making a return were rather obvious. Earlier this month, the series announced that it would be releasing a new collected volume in a pattern that has always preceded a new run of chapters. Updates from Yoshihiro Togashi's official X account also confirm that a stock of at least eleven chapters is ready to go, with many more in the process of finalization.

Similarly, a hiatus for Kagurabachi is nothing new. The series already missed three issues this year in March, May, and June, but all of these breaks have been for one week only. What makes this latest absence somewhat unusual is the fact that it will last for much longer: the official announcement explains that the series will not publish from next week's issue number 31 until "around August," citing health concerns.
Replacing Kagurabachi with Hunter x Hunter certainly comes with a certain sense of irony. At one point, Yoshihiro Togashi's back problems were so severe that he had to draw lying on the floor, but repeated hiatuses have aided with recovery. Even though there's no evidence that Takeru Hokazono is suffering from anything similar, here's hoping that a certain amount of lenience from the editorial team can prevent history from repeating itself.
