Haruko Ichikawa, creator of Land of the Lustrous, will launch a new series in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine on November 25.
Titled Cosmic Mimimi, Ichikawa's latest work is described as a "cosmic kawaii cho-hapi-hapi SF manga" in a teaser image. It follows the title character of Mimimi as they "try to make everyone happy" while living in a "cool and dreamy city." Other inhabitants, such as The Princess and The Representative of Science, were also revealed in a map of the setting.

Given the dour atmosphere of Land of the Lustrous, this certainly seems like a big creative departure. That being said, the main question on everyone's minds is whether or not Ichikawa can keep up a consistent schedule. It took over ten years for her last series to wrap up amidst multiple hiatuses.
