Harajuku's Design Festa gallery has existed as a space for creators to share their work and engages with others ever since its opening in 1998. True to its mission of being an “open space for everyone who is expressing themselves”, the mediums that they support are not limited to just the traditional fare of a typical gallery. The upcoming “The Maker's Exhibition” indie game event is a testament to this.
Occurring on 23 February, 2026 (a national holiday in Japan) the event invites solo creators to display and demonstrate the games that they have been making on their own. Hosted and organized by Tsukuchau-ojisan, the theme of this event is based on creators who felt compelled to create something and put their passion into making their game. This exhibition will be the first public showing of the fruits of their labor.
6 creators will be demonstrating one game each at this one-day-only event. Doors open at 11:00 and close at 19:00, so you'll have all day to swing by and check them out. For more information and a list of the creators and games that will be on display, check out the official event website or the Design Festa Gallery event page.
