Platinum Games announced today on their official X account that 2025 will be a year in which they celebrate the 15th anniversary of the BAYONETTA franchise. They specifically mention that series debuted in Japan in October 2009, and globally in January 2010, so it seems like a worldwide celebration is certainly in order. As such, a special project is currently in the works with various events planned throughout 2025.
No actual word on what this "BAYONETTA 15th Anniversary Year" is going to entail have been revealed yet, although a special site has been opened and Platinum says details will be released in due course.
The special site for the anniversary so far just features a letter of gratitude to the fans from the developers, and mentions that new calendar/wallpaper images will be released every month. A New Years themed image is currently available.
BAYONETTA as a franchise is something special, as against all odds we still continue to see news and releases from it even to this day. Most recently Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon was released in 2023 for the Nintendo Switch, and the previous entries in the series have had a pretty steady run of availability across generations thanks to Nintendo's continued publishing of the series internationally.
We can speculate for days as to what kind of things to expect as a part of this celebration, especially with the imminent reveal of the Nintendo Switch successor console, but in the meantime we'll be keeping our eyes peeled on the Platinum Games account for updates.
