Tsukumizu is penning a prequel to Girls' Last Tour for Kurage Bunch, focusing on the series' futuristic metropolis.
Anyone who has read or watched Girls' Last Tour will know that the massive city featured within is almost as important a character as Chito and Yuuri. Not only does the whole story revolve around the two girls traveling through it in search of food, the distinct features of each level provide new settings and challenges. Tsukumizu's art style is also iconic, but who can forget the visual of a massive human colony reaching up to the heavens?

While the author's last series Shimeji Simulation failed to create the same level of hype that their debut work did, the prospect of returning to the world of Girls' Last Tour is an exciting one. The official synopsis on the Kurage Bunch website reads as follows:
"This is the story of a massive layered city that reached up to the heavens, built by a humanity who came into possession of powerful technology. This is the story of those who watched the city rise, those who lived within its walls, as they went about their daily lives. This is the record of the many lives within the epoch that led towards to the end..."
In addition to a return to the world of Girls' Last Tour, this synopsis appears to hint that some answers might finally be given as to how the world ended in that series in the first place. Titled Kaisou Toshi Danpenshu, Tsukumizu's latest series launches on June 26 as a short story collection.
