Following a delay late last year, STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is now set to release on August 20, 2026. The Science Adventure X account confirmed the new date on May 7 alongside the remake's launch platforms and several collectors editions. El psy kongroo!
As the title suggests, STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is a remake of the original STEINS;GATE visual novel released in 2009. It promises a new "easier to read" storyline, rerecorded voice lines and dialogue, refined graphics, as well as advanced sprite movement through the E-mote animation tool. The project was initially revealed in 2024 during the series' 15th anniversary event for release the following year, but circumstances dictated otherwise.
In terms of release platforms, the remake will launch simultaneously across Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on August 20 in what is most likely the franchise's widest launch to date. That being said, only Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5 will be receiving a physical edition. Owners of other platforms will have to be content with digital only.

Among the physical editions, hardcore fans will undoubtedly be drawn to the "ultra collectors edition" that boasts the game and a special outer box, art book, soundtrack for both the new and original game, DVD and Blu-ray copy of the 15th anniversary live, as well as framed copy of character designer huke's key visual for 36,080 JPY. The website states very clearly that the Japanese copy will have Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese included, so you can shop worry-free.
Preorders start tomorrow! Keep your eye on the official Science Adventure X account and the official website for more details. If you're in Japan, there are also exclusive items depending on where you preorder.
