Sonic the Hedgehog is posting up in Tokyo this October to celebrate 35 years of high-speed gaming history. Ikebukuro PARCO is hosting a major commemorative event titled “SONIC the Exhibition -ACROSS GENERATIONS-” at their PARCO FACTORY space on the seventh floor of its main building. Running from October 9 through November 1, 2026, the exhibition offers fans an immersive look into how the iconic character evolved across games, art, music, and design.
The showcase centers on rare series archives, displaying production scripts, original character design sheets, and behind-the-scenes development files. Several historical items in the collection are being shown to the public for the first time. In addition to nostalgic game development materials, creative studio R11R curated 16 contemporary artists to reinterpret different eras of Sonic. Creators such as Yusuke Nakamura and BRIDGE SHIP HOUSE are contributing original artwork, presenting the blue blur from a variety of different artistic perspectives.

Beyond the gallery space, visitors can pick up exclusive anniversary merchandise, including artwork-inspired items and early-access Arita porcelain Sonic figures crafted by the global brand YOYOYO. Fans visiting on select weekends can also meet Sonic in person during special character greeting sessions scheduled for mid-to-late October. General admission tickets cost 1,500 yen and include a bonus random sticker featuring classic game art, with free entry for children elementary age and younger.
Admission tickets for the early days of the event have opened up on ePlus and are being made exclusively by lottery due to expected demand. You can find more information on the ePlus sales page.
