FANTASTICS from EXILE TRIBE have really been hitting the pop-culture space hard lately. First they tackled the theme song for the most recent Kamen Rider series, and now they're contributing an upbeat bop to act as the ending theme for the latest entry in the long-running Wataru anime franchise. The new track, titled "Pocket" was released today to digital platforms ahead of the anime's release.
Mashin Souzouden Wataru is the latest entry in the long running child hero franchise, this time trading the magic and fantasy for Wataru's aspirations to achieve digital stardom as a RyuTuber. He still has to navigate his way through a magical world in the process, and this time around he's joined primarily by his super robot partner Ryujinmaru. The Wataru series itself is pretty foreign to western audiences, the closest brush of which was the TurboGrafx-16 game Keith Courage in Alpha Zones which was originally a PC Engine Mashin Eiyuden Wataru tie-up game. The Wataru franchise still instills fond memories of those who grew up with it, and it made a comeback after 2 decades in 2020 with a new anime and manga series.
The theme song itself is, as previously mentioned, an upbeat track that's sure to get you dancing. The lyrics deliver a message of worry-free fun and having an adventure. Band-lead member SEKAI, who is a self-professed fan of anime and manga himself, even choreographed a special dance which is being incorporated into the actual ending of the show itself. It's basically a perfect match!
The anime series begins airing on TV Tokyo starting January 12, 2025. You can find "Pocket" now on all major streaming and download platforms.
