Christmas came early for Persona fans as Persona 6 and Persona 4 Revival were both shown off at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 today. In addition, the Castlevania is getting its first new game since 2014.
First of all, Persona 4 Revival very much looks like the shiny new version of Persona 4 Golden that everyone expected. Updated visuals come alongside a 'Series Finale' ability that resembles the Showtimes from Persona 5 Royal. The game is up for preorder now, with a release date slated for February 18, 2026.
As the first new mainline entry in the Persona franchise in over a decade, Persona 6 is arguably the more interesting topic here. While previous leaks had suggested a story with a spy theme set in Yokohama, the teaser shown off at the Xbox Games Showcase is much darker than expected. Spooky music underlines an image of a graveyard at night that only ends when a shadowy figure reaches their hand out to the camera.
That being said, it's very possible that this teaser is another example of Atlus preferring to communicate the theme of the game over its actual concept. The tagline "Who are you?" shown in snippets at the end certainly brings to mind "You are a slave. Want emancipation?" from Persona 5's initial teaser in 2014 that didn't really have much to do with the game at all in the end.
In any case, it would be unfair to skip over the news that Castlevania is also getting its first new game since Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014. Titled Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, what makes this title particularly exciting that it is being developed by Dead Cells developers Evil Empire and Motion Twin. An announcement trailer showed off action-packed gameplay and confirmed an October 2026 release date.
