Nintendo has shared more details about the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, including a release date and gameplay details.
In a special Nintendo Direct live stream for the series' 40th anniversary, producer Eiji Aonuma revealed that the title will launch on November 5 exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. New footage was also shown, following Link's journey from Kokiri Forest out onto Hyrule Field and beyond. Everything looks mostly the same as the Nintendo 64 original from 1998, apart from the fact that players can now operate the ocarina with their voice.
Where opinion seems to be split is the graphical presentation. English-speaking users on social media were quick to point out that the footage looks like a well-known parody of a Mario game made in the style of modern western titles, but Japanese users seem more concerned that the ReDead enemies might look even more terrifying than before. That November release date also makes the Ocarina of Time remake into one of the only major titles releasing in the window currently occupied by Grand Theft Auto VI, launching on November 19.
To celebrate the Legend of Zelda series' 40th anniversary, a new concert tour will begin early next year and the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto will receive various Zelda-themed exhibits. Check out the official website for more details.
