This certainly wasn't something we were expecting to see at the tail end of 2024 but we're here for it.
Takanori Nishikawa has been selected as the face of PARCO's upcoming GRAND BAZAR campaign, once again donning the iconic outfit from his smash hit "HOT LIMIT" music video from the 90's in a firey red color. The sale is your typical New Years promotion event, aimed at getting shoppers in the door at the multiple department stores PARCO operates across Japan. Things kick off on January 2, 2025 and dropping this advertising campaign ahead of time is sure to grab its fair share of attention.
In addition to the typical photo promotion and the promotional video above they've also taken things a step further and created a retro-styled endless runner game staring the singer.
Hashire! Takanori Nishikawa! ~Mermaid kyuushutsu deki sokai? is a simple web-based game that sees our hero on a quest to rescue a kidnapped mermaid. You tap or click to jump and dodge obstacles, and periodically you'll rescue the mermaid's friends and get power ups which grant Nishikawa his red suit and the ability to shoot fireballs. All of this is going on while a chiptune rendition of "HOT LIMIT" plays on a loop in the background.
It's an amusing little time killer, and it's a lot of fun to see Nishikawa embracing the classic look. We'll definitely be aiming for a high score before the game goes away on January 13, 2025.
