KADOKAWA has announced today that they will be opening a new light novel web magazine called Mekurimekuru in Spring 2025. The new service will be focused on sharing information and news related to light novels and character literature, while also covering expanded topics from other media types that tie into the core content.
In addition, KADOKAWA has announced a shakeup with two existing light novel related publications. First the light novel recommendation website Kimirano will be merged into the new Mekurimekuru website, continuing their long-standing "Next Light Novel Award" content and contributing to the overall content on the new site.
Next, long-running publication Dragon Magazine will cease publication with its May 2025 issues (on sale in March). The magazine has been in publication since 1988 and has published some incredibly popular properties throughout the years, but the staff states that the magazine can no longer fulfill the role it once had. Their statement reads as though members of their team will be joining Mekurimekuru as they express excitement in delivering their content to fans in a new form.
No specific date has been set for the launching of the new service, but it will be interesting to see what the end result is once it opens.
