Series producer Naoki Yoshida (AKA YoshiP) took to the stage at this year's FINAL FANTASY XIV FAN FESTIVAL in Berlin to reveal more details about the game's latest expansion Evercold, including new areas and job types.

As seen in the extended teaser trailer, players will have the opportunity to visit the city of Fargath as well as two giants 'Realmships' by the names of Naglfar and Hringhorni during their adventures in the world of the Fourth. These locations were also highlighted in individual introduction videos on the official FINAL FANTASY XIV YouTube channel.

In terms of new job types, the first was announced as Bastion: a main tank that makes use of two giant greatshields known as 'skyltborg'. Another DPS job is also on the cards, but this will be revealed at the FINAL FANTASY XIV FAN FESTIVAL in Japan, currently scheduled for October 31 and November 1 at the Makuhari Messe convention center.

Considering that the livestream was more than nine hours long, there's plenty more to cover here, including the fact that FINAL FANTASY XIV: Evercold will mark the beginning of a new story arc called 'The Goddless Realms Saga'. For now, however, it suffices to say that the expansion will also feature two new collaboration raids with the likes of Neon Genesis Evangelion and FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE.

January 2027 can't come soon enough.
