Japanese arcade publisher exA-Arcadia have started a week-long location test of the upcoming Kumro Games developed Jamjam'n Jelly Exalente at iconic Akihabara arcade Taito Hey today. The new "cute'em up" style shooting game is being exhibited on Hey's live streaming cabinet on the 2nd floor just next to its massive retro game area. Viewers can watch on the Taito Hey Broadcasting channel on YouTube.
As for the game itself, it's a side scrolling shooter that takes the "cute'em up" style popularized with games like Parodius and Cotton, and then throws bullet-hell styled shot patterns from enemies on top of it. Throughout stages you can discover hidden items which count toward your score and appear on the ranking screen, and of course there are a variety of power-ups you can obtain to customize your play. It's fast-paced, colorful, and the design looks exciting so we're looking forward to checking it out.
The location test for Jamjam'n Jelly Exalente will be running from January 16, 2025 through January 22, 2025.
