Just last week SUNRISE announced the Mobile Suit Gundam Wing 30th Anniversary Project with a special website, new merch announcements, and a collaboration cafe with Animate. While the anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is the primary focus, other alternative timeline series Mobile Fighter G Gundam, and After War Gundam X are also getting some love as part of the celebration.
Today, for the actual date of the 30th anniversary of the premiere of Gundam Wing, they're celebrating with a high-quality credit-less version of the series' iconic opening "JUST COMMUNICATION" by TWO-MIX on YouTube.
Additionally, a new illustration from Gundam Wing Endless Waltz character designer Sakura Asagi featuring Relena Darlian from Gundam Wing, Rain Mikamura from Mobile Fighter G Gundam, and Tiffa Adill from After War Gundam X was revealed and can be seen above. It's also available for purchase as an acrylic stand from Movic.
In addition to the new content mentioned above, a line of fragrances inspired by the cast of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing being produced by premium fragrance brand Primaniacs has been launched.
The celebrations have just started, but Bandai and Sunrise are known to drag out Gundam anniversaries for a while so we're sure that more in on the way throughout the year. Gundam Wing is the first series from the overall Gundam franchise to make its way to North America and saw significant success, so we wouldn't be surprised if they have some exciting things up their sleeves.
