Hikaru Utada has announced the digital release of their new single, “Intentions,” for 25 November, 2026. The track serves as the theme song for JR Central’s “GOOD DAY EXPRESS” campaign, promoting the new premium “Supreme Class” cabins on the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train connecting Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, and Osaka.
The cover artwork for the single was also revealed alongside the announcement, created by Paris-based Japanese artist YUKIKO NORITAKE.

To mark the upcoming release, a pre-order and pre-save campaign has launched across iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music. Anyone who pre-orders on iTunes will be entered into a drawing to win an exclusive handkerchief featuring the release's artwork, with 100 winners being selected. All eligible pre-orders and pre-saves across digital platforms can also receive an exclusive digital wallpaper. Full details in English and Japanese can be found on the campaign's website.
In addition, starting November 6, fans in Japan will also have a chance to hear “Intentions” in full before its official release. Sony Store locations in Ginza, Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka Tenjin are hosting dedicated listening environments, special audio comparison sessions, and promotional giveaways. The in-store experience will run through December 30, 2026.
Additional information on these in-store experiences can be found on the Sony Store website.
